Summer Drive-In 2020
As we return to worship in person, from our parking lot, these (not necessarily connected) messages and services are designed as a summer fill-up with spiritual fuel.

CALL TO WORSHIP
From Psalm 146
Praise the Lord, my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
OPENING PRAYER
Almighty God.
Today we come before You,
our Maker and Redeemer,
to worship.
Bless us, we pray, in this time of praise, prayer, and learning.
And remind us in some new way of all You are and of all Your promises.
That we might remember that our help and hope is in You.
That You are forever-faithful to all generations.
And that we might be renewed to continue on in life-long praise.
In the perfecting power of the Spirit and Jesus’ powerful Name, we pray.
Amen.
OPENING SONG
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He has said,
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with you; O be not dismayed,
for I am your God and will still give you aid.
I’ll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through the deep waters I call you to go,
the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
for I will be with you, your troubles to bless,
and sanctify to you your deepest distress.
When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie,
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be your supply.
The flame shall not hurt you; I only design
your dross to consume, and your gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!
that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!
TIME OF OUR CONGREGATION’S PRAYERS
Opening
Loving, Merciful, and Gracious God,
As we come before You in worship, we come to praise Your Holy Name.
We praise you Father for the works of Your hands and the wonder of the world around us. We praise You for the gift of life and being. We praise You for the daily blessings and provisions that have seen us through another week. We praise You for the treasured relationships with family and friends. And, most certainly, we praise You Father for the gift of salvation by grace through faith in Your Son and our Savior, Christ Jesus.
And we praise You Lord for the church you have called in all ages and for the Body of which we are a part. We marvel, O Lord, at the way You work Your Salvation Story and for the part You have blessed and called us to play in it. Help us Father to be that people. A people of Grace and Mercy, of Justice and Righteousness, of Faith, Hope, and Love – that we may be witness to the world of the Good News of the Gospel.
And we praise You, O God, for the right in Christ to boldly approach the Throne as Your children to seek Your grace in our times of need. And so, on behalf of our world, our loved ones, and ourselves, we do so now:
Prayers For Our World, Our Loved Ones, And Ourselves
Closing
And now, God of Love, Mercy and Grace,
And now Father, as we continue on in worship, may You open our hearts and minds to Your Word and use this time to enliven us in faith by Your Spirit, that we may grow in our walk with You and in a life that is evermore a reflection of Jesus.
We ask this in the perfecting power of Your Spirit and in His precious Name.
Amen.
