CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God.

Today we come before You,
our Creator, Redeemer, and Loving Shepherd
to worship in praise and gratitude.

Bless us, we pray, in this time of worship.
And restore our souls to be as cups overflowing.

That we might walk in paths of righteousness for the sake of Your name.
That we might find fear driven out by Your loving-comfort.
And that we might be assured of Your goodness, mercy, and our place in Your house forever, once again.

In the perfecting power of the Spirit and Jesus’ precious name, we pray.

Amen.

OPENING SONG

My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

His oath, his covenant, his blood
Supports me in the ‘whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When he shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

TIME OF OUR CONGREGATION’S PRAYERS

Opening

Almighty God, Loving Father.

As we unite our hearts in prayer this morning, we come in joy and praise. For You, O God, have crafted each one of us in Your image. You have gifted us with all we need for body and soul in Your daily providence and redemption story. These find us made new by Your love, mercy, and grace in Christ Jesus unto a new life in the Spirit and the promise of our place in Your Kingdom.

Oh what a glory it is to stand upon the Rock of Christ!

And yet we know, O Lord, that we are not yet free from our sinful nature. And because of this we continue to strain our relationship with You, in the sin of what we have done and what we have left undone. And so we come, in confession of our mistakes in this day laying open the secrets of our hearts and the misdeeds of our hands before You.

May You, our merciful God, assure us of Your love and forgiveness.

But we also know, O God, that because of Christ we can never be separated from Your love. That You look upon all Your children in care. And that You desire to give us good things according to Your perfect will and wisdom. And so we come, in thanksgiving for every daily mercy we have known through another week, and for the lifelong blessing of being in relationship with You.

And in this thanks, we come humbly to ask of You:

Prayers For Our World, Our Loved Ones, And Ourselves

Closing
And now, God of love, mercy and grace,

As we continue on in worship, may You bless us abundantly in it — that our hearts and minds might be increased in faith through Your Word, our hands and feet empowered to Your service by the hope of the Gospel, and our voices and lives crafted to display Your love in all we say and do.

We ask this in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
