We want to make Jesus into the king we want him to be, so he will command the things we want him to, reign over what we want, so we can have the life we want.
When faced with tragedy, misstep, or habitual sin, we will justify, give up, or run away – because it is so much less scary than repenting and turning back to God for comfort.
Sin didn’t make the cross necessary. Jesus was always the plan. The cross – showing us how Christ loves us, made the fall from Grace necessary.
Paul reminds us that the Kingdom of Heaven is about Christ’s return, not our escape.
In Thessalonica, Paul reasoned from the scriptures, explaining, describing the eye witness accounts, and bringing some to the logical conclusion.
